Dr. Stella Briscoe is the real soup-tasting teacher at Swedhump Elementary, based in the Soup Tasting and Appreciation Building.

She is the most decorated champion in the history of the World Soup Tasting and Appreciating Championships, having won it five years in a row. Mrs. Rosebank hired her on the strength of that fifth title.

The impostor problem came later. Dr. Briscoe was poisoned with snigg-worm and quietly replaced by Ms. Woodhouse. Then she woke up perfectly healthy.
